The original idea was to go around Scotland in a large anti-clockwise sweep, but this didn't happen. Furthermore, on the first trip I only got as far as Findhorn, and then turned back. So if this book is completed, it was actually done in several trips. Perforce I will have visited some places several times, and visited different things on each visit. For the sake of simplicity, I have written the book as if it was all done in one trip because it is of no interest to the reader specifically which visit corresponds to which trip.
